Lusaka, Zambia – 4th November 2025

FNB Zambia and Airtel Mobile Commerce Ltd have today announced the official launch of the Mobile Money on POS solution, a first-of-its-kind collaboration that allows Airtel Money customers to make payments directly from their mobile wallets using FNB’s Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals.

Through this collaboration, we are integrating mobile money wallets with our FNB POS terminals, enabling secure, cardless payments directly from mobile wallets. This means:
- Customers can now pay for goods and services using their Airtel Money wallets at any FNB POS terminal.
- Merchants can accept mobile money payments without needing additional devices.
- Transactions are instant, secure, and seamless.

Speaking during the launch, FNB Zambia CEO, Ms. Kapumpe Chola, said:

It is a great honour to welcome you all to this landmark occasion as we officially launch a product that we believe will redefine the way Zambians interact with financial services. At FNB Zambia, we believe that access to financial services is a right, not a privilege. Today’s launch is a testament to our unwavering commitment to inclusive banking, digital innovation, and customer-centric solutions. This product is born out of listening to our customers, understanding their needs, and responding with agility and purpose.

Airtel Money Country Director, Andrew Chuma, said:

“This collaboration with FNB is a powerful example of how partnerships can accelerate digital transformation. Together, we are creating an interoperable ecosystem that will allow Airtel Money users to make payments seamlessly on POS devices—enhancing convenience, supporting merchants, and driving Zambia’s cashless economy forward.”

The partnership is supported by the Bank of Zambia, whose leadership continues to champion interoperability and collaboration in Zambia’s growing digital finance space.

This innovation will:
- Expand financial access to underserved communities.
- Empower small businesses and informal traders.
- Reduce reliance on cash, enhancing safety and convenience.
- Drive digital adoption across sectors.
It aligns perfectly with Zambia’s national agenda for financial inclusion and the broader goals of the digital economy.

Together, Airtel Money and FNB Zambia are making it possible for every transaction, big or small to be safer, faster, and smarter.
