Johannesburg, 21 July 2025 This year’s Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) Conference will be tackling the important question of how ICT professionals can empower Africa’s technology future.

To be held at the prestigious Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana, between 20 and 22 August 2025, the conference’s core theme is Empowering Africa’s Tech Future: Innovation, Standards, and Global Influence.

David Gowu, TICON Africa President, explains that the continent is at a key junction with the opportunity to drive talent so that it can leapfrog other nations through making the best use of current cutting-edge technologies. “We all know just how quickly the tech world is moving, the question is how Africa can benefit from that,” he says.

Gowu adds that the Conference will enable delegates to understand how the nexus of innovation, uniform standards, and an understanding of how changes across the globe can shape and guide Africa’s progress to become leaders in specialised areas in technology.

Other themes that will build on this include:

  • Engineering Smart and Resilient Digital Ecosystems
  • Tech-Driven Inclusion – Empowering Women for a Digital Economy
  • Africa at the Forefront of the Global Tech Revolution
  • Embracing & Enabling Digital Education Throughout Africa
  • Driving the Standardised Skills Development Initiative Among BRICS+ and African Countries

“We also have an exciting Women in ICT theme lined up and will reveal this topic at a later stage,” says Gowu.
